"You always need a fit of madness to build up a destiny."
Marguerite Yourcenar
A Christmas in Ploumanach, Crick! Crack! Boum! FFlippo the little Christmas clown has set up his show with animal cubs...
Un Noël à Ploumanach gets onto the themes of loneliness, sadness, but also mutual aid, joy and gift, that anyone is able to offer, even a little child, alone in the midst of adults. We have chosen this story because it mirrors a reality of Christmas which concerns all of us. The protagonists are puppets in which the comedians, at times storytellers, infuse life. Music, through tunes sung or performed on a violin, intensifies the moment’s magic.
As the circus comes to the village of Ploumanach for its Christmas performance, depressed old people explain to the circus folks that further o the pouring rain and drought, the whole youth has left to find a job in town. Thus, the villagers have not enough money to pay the circus and there will not be any show this year. So, the circus carries on its way towards the town, and Flippo the little clown stays in the village with the animal cubs, being exhausted from his long trip.
Flippo is housed in old aunt Claire’s. The latter is sad about her fate, as well as her companions’, when the kid, sadder for the villagers than for himself, decides to set up a Christmas show with the animal cubs, which he will offer to any interested person. And here they go! Get to work! Aunt Claire sews the actors’ costumes and prepares the setting, while Flippo rehearses with the animal cubs. But it is snowing, and the village square is overflowing with this white powder...
As the evening came, the harvest of sown seeds had been done and as a reward for these efforts, snow stopped falling and the show was set: thus, the performance can take place. Animals flutter all around the place, music gives a festive appearance to the show and Flippo, as the master of his invention, perfectly utters his masterpiece... the show is a success: the villagers, pleased with this wonderful gift, celebrate their Christmas like everyone.
Thanks, Flippo, thanks for your generosity!
